Photography of Life.

Sometimes it’s joyful. Sometimes it hard. Sometimes it’s fun. Sometimes it’s pushing through. And it’s always worth capturing. The beautiful, the uncomfortable, the not quite there yet but working on it. You should feel comfortable in the skin you’re in, the clothes you love (even with the coffee stain) and with your family at any stage of life and at any age. I believe that it’s all worth documenting.

I’ve captured the most beautiful seasons of life with the birth of a new little one. And in between of life when you’re fighting hard through tough times. The happy fall portraits in the beautiful trees. And the fragile moments of life. It’s happy, it’s messy and it’s never perfect (in a good way).

My photography journey started 25 years ago, photographing families in England. (I mean, the England section of Busch Gardens, Williamsburg). I photographed 100s of families a day, developed film and sold those little keychain memories as my summer job. Fast forward to starting my own family, my love for documenting life had grown. I officially started Carmen Doherty Photography in 2010. My business has allowed me to meet and document the most amazing and incredible families.

In the end, the goal is the same. I want you to feel something. I want to see the small details and the fullness of a life well-lived for years to come.
